Which Frog Are You?

INERTIA: a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.

Huh.

I have bad news. Really, quite terrible news for you. Nothing is going to change without action or force.

It just isn't.

I would like to assert that this principle applies to everything in your life. If you want something to be different, you must apply force (action) in order to either get something going in the right direction or completely change the direction. This is an infallible truth and the difficult reality of living the life you envision. Every single day requires you to live with INTENTION and PURPOSE. Your healthy lunch will not appear in your lap. Your belly will not just shrink. Your application to that dream job will not submit itself. You will not suddenly find yourself on a date with the woman of your dreams. None of this will happens unless YOU take action. TODAY!

 

Let me tell you a story...

One day two frogs were hopping along at a farm. They hopped joyfully into a bucket of fresh cream. How wonderful! They drank the fresh, sweet cream enjoying the gluttony. With their bellies filled to the top, it was time to go. They tried to climb the walls of the bucket, but slipped right back down. They tried again to no avail. Time and time again, the result was the same. What they were doing just wasn't working.

 "I'm so tired," said the first frog. "This is hopeless! We are stuck here and we are never getting out. We are going to diiiiiie!" With that, he took his last froggy breath and allowed himself to succumb. He gave up and drowned.

The second frog was not so easily deterred. "I will keep swimming," he thought, "until I figure a way out of this mess." He pursed his froggy lips and continued to tread water. And things got tougher. The cream felt heavier and thicker. His froggy legs were exhausted. All his past frog life demons taunted him and told him he was a goner.

He kept treading.

Finally, in the wee hours of the morning, he felt something solid forming under his feet. He treaded harder. There was hope! Finally, he got a foothold and hopped his exhausted froggy body right out of the pail.

You see, the second frog kept going, kept MOVING, continued to ACT, REFUSED TO QUIT! He churned the cream until it became butter and solid underfoot.

Which frog are you?

I know this is a silly story. But think about it for a moment. Which frog are you? It doesn't take much! It takes one or two tiny intentional actions each day and eventually you will arrive at your goal. Start today by putting two little things at the top of your To-Do list. Easy things.
